Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to splash the cash in January in order to save the club’s season.

The Gunners have been poor since the start of the campaign and are already 12 points behind league-leaders, Chelsea, but Wenger is now readying to make drastic changes and will launch a mega-offer for Borussia Dortmund centre-back, Matts Hummels, in January.

The Winter window is just two months away and Arsenal are in dire need of defensive reinforcements and a bit of steel in their team and Wenger believes Hummels is the guy to bring that.

According to reports, Hummels is keen on the move to the Emirates Stadium and would rather join them than Manchester United, who are also interested in him, and it’s believed that Arsenal will make a formal move for the German in January.

It’s not yet clear whether a £31.3million bid would be enough to persuade Dortmund to sell, but Arsenal are feeling confident that they can wrap up a deal sharpish in the New Year.
