According to reports, Arsenal have turned down the chance to re-sign former-captain Cesc Fabregas from FC Barcelona.
The Spanish midfielder has told the club that he wants to leave and return to the Premier League after yet another season being used mainly as a subtitute, and it’s been reported that five of the top English teams are all keen on bringing him back.
However, in his contract it states that Arsenal get first refusal and could also sign the midfielder for the same price that any other club offers.
It’s been heavily reported that Barca have offered the 27-year-old to the clubs interested for around £30million, and according to reports today, Arsene Wenger has rejected the chance to bring him back.
With the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla, Wenger has made it clear that he does not need another attacking-minded midfielder, and he is mainly focusing on a defensive-midfielder, as well as a right-back and a striker.
This will leave; Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea to battle it out for the midfielder’s signature, but with a formal offer made, Arsenal may change their minds and make a late bid for their former-star.
