FC Porto to be offered £40million for striker

Arsenal have reportedly renewed their interest in FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, and are preparing a massive £40million bid for the Colombian at the end of the season.

Martinez has been one of the standout strikers across Europe for the past few seasons, but after showing loyalty to the Portuguese club, he rejected several chances to leave.

Arsenal have previously been interested in signing the hitman, whilst Liverpool have also shown interest.

However, the 28-year-old remained loyal to Porto and stayed at the club.

Decision to Leave

Despite staying loyal to Porto, the striker has now confirmed that his intentions are to quit the club at the end of the current season and move abroad in order to face a new challenge.

The Colombian international recently took part in an interview with a newspaper back in his homeland and he confirmed that he intentions are to move on from Porto this Summer, sparking speculation that he could be on his way to England.

He said: ‘I have made it clear that my departure to a new club will surely happen next summer.

‘Right now, I only focus on doing my job with Porto, but I’m ready to take the leap in the next window.’

Arsenal aren’t the only team interested in Martinez as both Liverpool and Manchester United have shown interest in him during previous seasons, as has Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners strengthened in the attacking area last Summer by signing Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, but Arsene Wenger is still reportedly in the market for another striker.

With Lukas Podolski expected to leave, Arsenal would have just Welbeck and Olivier Giroud as recognised strikers, so a third attacker may be brought in over the Summer.
