Premier League side Arsenal are seriously considering making a surprise move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas after Arsene Wenger finally loses patience with current number-one Wojciech Szczesny.

The Spanish goalkeeper is reportedly unhappy at Madrid after he lost his first-team spot during the Jose Mourinho era and The Gunners are keeping close tabs on the situation.

Wenger is adamant that the club are willing to spend big money this summer, but so far nothing has been spent at all at the Emirates Stadium and after a dire showing in the opening game of the season against Aston Villa, a game which they lost 3-1, Wenger is finally looking at splashing the cash and a top-class number-one is high on his wishlist.

It is reported that Arsenal are thinking about making an ÂŁ8million bid for the 32-year-old, but The Gunners fear that the Spanish giants want at least ÂŁ15million for the veteran.

Wenger and his scouts are also weighing up a move for Queens Park Rangers shot-stopper Julio Cesar, who is desperate to leave the recently-relegation club in order to play top-flight football before the World Cup next year in Brazil.
