Gunners legend Thierry Henry has said that his former club should consider resigning midfield maestro Alex Song.
Song is currently on loan at West Ham from Barcelona, who Arsenal sold the Cameroonian to in 2012.
Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing the 27 year old, who could be available on a permanent basis in the summer window.
Henry was speaking prior to Arsenal’s 2-0 victory away to Manchester City, on his debut for Sky Sports.
“Song would improve Arsenal,” said the Frenchman. “That is the type of player you want in front of your back four.
“Song is the captain of the boat. He protects the back four. You need someone to dictate, put players into position, make little fouls by kicking someone- like Claude Makelele used to do.”
Henry added that Arsenal haven’t been able to replace Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva, Henry’s teammates in Arsenal’s “invincible” 2003/04 season.
