According to reports out of the Daily Mail, the Gunners are hopeful of completing a deal for Japan international forward Takuma Asano in the coming days.
Following Jamie Vardy’s decision to snub a move to the Emirates Arsene Wenger now sees Asano as a hot prospect for the future but will reportedly loan him out to gain more experience during the upcoming season.
Reports of The Gunners’s interest in the 21-year-old, emerged earlier this week.
Asano, who has five caps for his country Japan, expressed his shock at Arsenals’ approach.
“I was a little stunned,” he said.
“But I feel like I have the confidence to succeed wherever I go.
“If I am loaned elsewhere, my take on it is that I give it 100 percent.”
Asano will become Wenger’s third Japanese signing during his 20-year spell.
Junichi Inamoto and Ryo Miyaichi have also previously been brought to the club, However, neither managed to make a breakthrough into Wenger’s starting XI.
