Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been dealt a serious blow ahead of the Cardiff City game on Wednesday, as four of his regular starters have all been ruled out.

Kieran Gibbs, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and now Olivier Giroud are all sidelined with injuries, which leaves Wenger with either Lukas Podolski or Nicklas Bendtner to lead the line for New Year’s day against the Welsh side.

Not only are the four regulars injured, there are also doubts over; Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky, Thomas Vermaelen and Jack Wilshere.

Meanwhile, Wenger has also given light into his transfer dealings this Winter, and he has revealed that he is after a striker, but only a special one.

‘We are on alert in the market if something special turns up but we are not desperate.’

Asked if he will be going back in for Luis Suarez, Wenger replied with: ‘We won’t approach for Suarez. He has signed a contract. (Nicklas) Bendtner is back (Lukas) Podolski is back.’
