Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been told by the club’s officials to consider re-signing FC Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

The Spaniard left the Emirates Stadium in order to join his boyhood club back in 2011, but after a few seasons with Barca, it looks like Fabregas’ fairytale is over in Spain as the Catalan club look to sell him this Summer.

It’s believed that new boss, Luis Enrique, has put the midfielder up for sale as he eyes drastic changes in the squad this year, and Arsenal’s rivals Manchester United are ready to launch a ÂŁ42million bid in order to sign him.

However, Wenger has been told by the club to consider making an offer for their former-star to show their intent in this year’s Summer market.

Last Summer it was Mesut Ozil that stole the headlines for Arsenal, and with more money set to be spent this year, Wenger could be on his way to bringing the glory days back to The Gunners.

If Barca are to sell Fabregas, Arsenal will have first-refusal at the player due to a clause put in his contract, which means, Barca must offer Fabregas to Arsenal before they accept any other clubs bid, and this could see them easily win the race for the 27-year-old, ahead of Louis Van Gaal’s United.

Wenger is apparently not interested in signing Fabregas, but he has been told by club officials and also members of his coaching staff that he should re-consider and bring back the local hero who spent eight-years at the club.
