French starlet is impressing at Bayern Munich

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he tried to sign Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman back in 2014, before the winger opted to join Juventus instead.

The teenager is currently on a two-year-long loan from Juve at the Allianz Arena and he’s been causing a lot of issues in the Bundesliga under Pep Guardiola.

The 19-year-old is a managing to compete for places in the Munich side alongside the likes of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, and Wenger has admitted he was close to signing him last year.

Wenger Wanted Coman

Wenger was alerted by Coman whilst playing for Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, and the Arsenal boss has revealed how the player chose Juventus instead.

“Yes we really tried to sign Kingsley Coman in the summer of 2014,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

“The transfer was almost completed, but he preferred Juventus.”

Munich have Coman for the next two-years and have the option to sign him permanently for ÂŁ16million in 2017.
