Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that he promised his grandad that he would play for Real Madrid in his career.

The Gabon international has impressed this season, scoring 34 goals in 37 games in all competitions.

Manchester United are closely monitoring the forward, according to Starsport. However, the Mail say Arsenal are interested and have sent scouts out to watch him within the last couple of weeks.

Speculation has also arisen that French side Paris St-Germain are after the 26-year-old, but Aubameyang has confirmed that he does not want to join the Ligue 1 champions.

In an interview with beIN Sports, he said: “PSG? That’s not my objective. I can’t say anything else about it.

“I can’t see any reason to go back to France, when I left three years ago.” he added.

Manchester United and Arsenal fans should not get overly confident though as the African Footballer of the Year has his eyes on a move to the Bernabeu and wants to play in La Liga, he said: “Real Madrid? There is no agreement but I promised my grandfather I would play there one day.

“Why wouldn’t I want to discover new things?

“As I’ve said several times, I’d like to play in Spain and have good weather for once in my life!” he joked.

It is rumoured that Dortmund want at least £60m for Aubameyang.
