Barcelona and Liverpool target to stay at current club

Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt is all set to snub interest from Liverpool and Barcelona and stay at his current club.

The 21-year-old has been turning heads with his performances with Bayer Leverkusen and is one of the most sought-after youngsters in the European market.

Before poaching Mo Salah, Liverpool had their eyes on Brandt in the summer last year, but let go of him as a target once the Egyptian joined their ranks.

His father, Jurgen Brandt, was quoted as saying to Sport Bild: “Julian’s objective is to play in Europe with Leverkusen next season. He’ll definitely be here until 2019. Julian feels he has unfinished business at Leverkusen.”

For Barcelona, Brandt first came into contention when they were looking at ways and means to fill the gaping hole left by the departure of Neymar, and before they had acquired Coutinho.
