Bayern’s interest in Marco Reus made official

Bayern Munich chairman Karl Heinz-Rummenigge has said Dortmund playmaker Marco Reus is of interest to the German champions.

Reus’s contract runs out in 2017, but it looks as if Dortmund will have to sell him next summer, to ensure the club makes a good profit.

Dortmund signed Reus for ÂŁ13.5 million, but are looking to potentially sell him on for double that amount.

Reus’ ÂŁ20 million buy-out clause is set to activate next year, meaning it is very likely bids will come in from rival clubs in Europe.

Rummenigge had this to say about the prospect of Reus joining Bayern.

“We know in Munich that he is high quality, and we know its clause. Perhaps a young German national player of such quality is interesting for us.”

If Reus was to join the German champions, he would follow Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, who have both swapped the Westfalenstadion for the Allianz Arena.

There is plenty of interest in Reus from Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United although a move to England seems unlikely.
