The defender joined Pep Guardiola’s side earlier this summer for a fee of £21million and signed a five year deal with the German giants.
Benatia originally joined Roma from Udinese last year for £10.5million and was set to join the Premier League at the start of the transfer window, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all reportedly interested.
However the 27 year-old opted to reject a move to England and joined the Bundesliga champions, meaning he will now compete for a place against Jerome Boateng, Holger Badstuber and Dante.
The centre-back has recently revealed he feels the Allianz switch was the best option, as he told Sporteagle.tv: “For me it is a great opportunity because a club like Bayern is the best place to be for all players.
“After living in Italy for all these years, where I have enjoyed myself, I now begin a new adventure.
“Now I have arrived in the Bundesliga, which is perhaps a faster and more difficult league, but I have the confidence to succeed here.”
