Marca claims that Borussia Dortmund’s €15m offer for Leonardo Balerdi has been accepted by Boca Juniors and the decision for the transfer rests on the 19-year-old and his representatives.

BVB’s initial offer of €10m was rejected by the Argentinian outfit but the latest did come close to the player’s release clause. Balerdi has featured in just 5 Primera Division games for Boca and is currently training with the Argentina U20 squad for the upcoming match against Chile.

He might just be yet another youngster the Dortmund hierarchy is targeting to develop into European football. The current lineup of the Bundesliga outfit has four centre-halfs, three of which are below the ages of 24 – Abdou Diallo (22), Manuel Akanji (23) and Dan-Axel Zagadou (19).

Balerdi can be yet another gem that the German outfit has unearthed from the South American continent.

Borussia Dortmund has always been aggressive towards recruiting young talent but they recently they have taken their acquisition strategies to a whole another level. They signed Jadon Sancho (18) from Manchester City and the England international is already making a name for himself in the German top-flight.

They have made a hefty profit on Christian Pulisic’s sale to Chelsea but have players like Sancho, Jacob Brunn Larsen (20) and Marius Wolf (23) to cover the wing positions.

An 18-year-old attacking midfielder named Sergio Gomez has also broken into the senior squad with players like Mahmoud Dahoud (23) and Julian Weigl (23) doing exceptionally well in the central positions.

BVB are currently 6 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Clearly, they are doing something right!
