Blues made £20million bid for defender
Chelsea Football Club have had a formal bid worth £20million turned down by Everton for defender John Stones.
The Blues are admirers of the young Englishman, and see him a perfect long-term replacement for veteran John Terry.
However, their first formal bid has been turned down by The Toffees, according to Sky Sports News.
Big Season Ahead for Stones
Stones had a major breakthrough season at Goodison Park last campaign, and with Slyvain Distin out the door now in Merseyside, it’s expected the 21-year-old will be a first-team regular this year for Roberto Martinez.
The centre-back is currently in Singapore with the rest of his team-mates, competing in the Asia Cup, where he will face Premier League rivals Arsenal in the final tomorrow.
Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new centre-back and a new central-midfielder after already capturing Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic.
