In a stunning turn of events, Chelsea’s Veteran defender John Terry has been offered a new contract with the club.
There has been much speculation over the future of the Stamford Bridge favourite, and up until now it seemed that Terry would be leaving the club for pastures new.
However, it has now been announced that John Terry WILL be a Chelsea FC player next year after being offered a 1 year contract extension, which will delight fans and Club Staff alike.
The 35 year old has won 4 League titles with the Blues, and will no doubt now be a pivotal part of their campaign next season.
After what looked to be a disastrous campaign this season, Terry announced that he would not be playing for Chelsea next season, which according to fellow defender Gary Cahill was a ‘blow’ for the side.
Terry is Chelsea’s most successful captain, having led them to four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and one UEFA Champions League title since 2004. He is one of the five players to have ever made over 500 appearances for Chelsea and is also the club’s all-time highest scoring defender. There is no doubt that he played a key part in much of the club’s success over the years.
Terry, despite the exit claims, has been a massive part of Chelsea’s season so far, making 33 appearances for the club and providing some stability in defence. His leadership qualities have been needed due to the disappointing season they have, and it is certain that the club will need his attributes going forward.
