Striker has officially asked to leave the club

West Bromwich Albion Football Club have rejected a formal transfer request from Saido Berahino.

The club have recently released a statement confirming that the striker has asked to leave, but they have told him that they will not be selling and his request has been rejected.

Berahino has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but as reported earlier, 15 teams have approached The Baggies to enquire about the striker’s availability.

Despite the club signing two forwards this summer in the shape of Rickie Lambert and Salomón Rondón, they still have no intentions of losing Berahino.

Club Statement

A club statement on their official website read: “WEST Bromwich Albion have received a written transfer request from Saido Berahino.

“The request has been rejected and the club’s position remains unchanged from that outlined in the statement from Chairman Jeremy Peace of August 18.
“There will be no further comment.”
