Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that his side can make a major signing before Friday’s deadline, despite seeing his team thrash fierce-rivals Everton 4-0 at Anfield last night.

Goals from Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and a brace from Daniel Sturridge gave Rodgers’ side all three points, but after the game, he revealed that his plans are to sign people in order to strengthen their title push.

Rodgers revealed yesterday that he was frustrated about the lack of activity, but he admits to feeling hopeful that something can be arranged before the window slams shut.

“We are working together and hopefully we can have a major signing in before the window closes,” said Rodgers

“The people behind the scenes are working very, very hard and we are not always going to get the players we want for a number of reasons. The people here are very important to what we are trying to do.

“If we can get someone in before the window closes we can, then set up for the remaining games this season.”
