Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has defended Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, calling the Portuguese one of the best managers in the Premier League. Mourinho faced criticism due to a number of issues during pre-season.
However, Hughton has come out in defense of his fellow Premier League manager. Hughton said, “He is one of our best managers, if you look at the record he has of winning things. I think when you are that type of manager you are going to be in the spotlight far more than others and everything is going to be picked up.
I think they [Manchester United] have a different style to other teams in the top six. What they do have is a team which is packed with quality, hence why they win so many games. It is up to them in the manner they choose to do that. It’s just one of those circumstances where we performed well in our games against them last season. We will need to get to those levels again. We made a very good account of ourselves [in the 1-0 win] against a United side who didn’t perform on the day.”
Manchester United and Brighton and Hove Albion will face each other on Sunday.
