Chelsea are in talks to sign highly rated defender Miranda from Atletico Madrid.
The Blue’s asked about the defender’s availibility during the final stages of negotiations when signing left-back Filipe Luis, and it is understood that the two clubs will speak about a possible transfer early next week.
Miranda has already told Atletico he wants to depart and has a £24m release clause in his contract, which was expected to be activated by Manchester United at the end of the season.
But now it is said Chelsea are keen to add Miranda to their ranks, in what would be their third signing from Atletico Madrid this summer.
The 29-year-old is currently back in training with Atletico, but sources close to the player insist he would be interested in joining Chelsea.
France star Raphael Varane was Jose Mourinho’s first choice reinforcement at the back, but Real Madrid insist he is not for sale, and Miranda is seen as a decent fall-back option.
