Blues plotting monster-bid for Paris Saint-Germain star

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Thiago Silva, and are prepared to offer the French champions a ‘monster offer’.

It’s well documented that the Blues are in the market for a new defender, especially after falling short over the summer in their quests for John Stones and Marquinhos.

Defensive Activity

Chelsea had three formal bids turned down by Everton for Stones, whilst PSG snubbed two formal offers from Chelsea for Marquinhos, leaving the Premier League champions empty-handed.

However, Chelsea reacted to the two snubs by signing Michael Hector from Reading on Transfer Deadline Day, and also by signing Papy Djilobodji from Nantes on the same day.

Despite signing him over the summer, Djilobodji has already departed Stamford Bridge after joining Werder Bremen on loan for the remainder of the season.

Silva Tops The List

According to reports, Chelsea officials still want to land a star-name for their defence, and it looks like Silva could be their top target now.

Some reports are claiming talks are already underway, but there is a long way to go in the negotiations.

Chelsea currently have Gary Cahill, Kurt Zouma and John Terry on their books as recognised centre-halves, but the latter could be released at the end of the season.
