Diego Costa scores crucial goal

Chelsea have moved to the top of the Premier League after beating Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium.

Boro couldn’t threaten the Blues too much in the first half, and Diego Costa’s only goal of the game 4 minutes before the half ended meant that Chelsea had a lead to defend after half time.

The home side came out in the second half and were much improved, but the quality of finishing and passes weren’t good enough to break down a very resistant Chelsea defence. Despite some opportunities, it was still Chelsea that took all 3 points.

Chelsea started the game with an unchanged for the 5th fixture in a row, with their 3 at the back system working again for Antonio Conte’s men. They have now won 6 games in a row, and kept 6 clean sheets.

The big tests come in the upcoming weeks, however, as they host Tottenham Hotspur next week at Stamford Bridge, and then travel to Manchester City the week after. If they come out on top in those two games, they could make themselves real fighters for the title.

The now sit top, just a point over former leaders Liverpool, who dropped points thanks to a 0-0 draw with Southampton on Saturday.
