The Italian eventually settled for David Luiz in a £32million deal from Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Luiz hasn’t exactly proved it was worth getting him back to Stamford Bridge and with John Terry still out injured, trouble times are ahead.
It is reported that Conte is still keen to bring De Vrij over to Stamford Bridge as he looks to strengthen his defense in the winter window.
However, the Sunday People report that Lazio have now put a £50m price tag on the defender as they look to deter any interest from The Blues.
It is said De Vrij is also close to extending his contract until 2020, with his wages being bumped up from £25,000 to £35,000-a-week.
