Both English clubs interested in Atletico striker

Chelsea will fight Manchester United for Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, if the French international decides to quit the Spanish club at the end of the season.

Griezmann has recently signed a massive new deal with the club with a huge ÂŁ85million release clause, however his future remains in the balance amid suggestions that manager Diego Simeone could also be set to quit.

Griezmann has previously admitted that he would seek a new challenge if Simeone were to go.

United have had the strongest links with him but Chelsea have had him on their radar for the last couple of years.

The Blues thought they might’ve been able to land him the summer just gone by, but couldn’t due to their lack of Champions League football this season.

Griezmann’s fee would shatter the Blues’ transfer record. But they were willing to offer around £60million for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata during the summer and even more than that for Everton’s Romelu Lukaku before being told that the Toffees would not sell under any circumstances.

He has scored 8 goals in 13 appearances for Atleti this season, as Simeone’s side push for another title winning season in La Liga.
