Roman Abramovich has given the green-light for the deal

Chelsea are set to make an astonishing bid for Juventus star Paul Pogba, with reports claiming they are ready to pay up to £72million for the Frenchman.

The strong midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Serie A champions, and it now looks like Chelsea could be in pole position to land him.

FC Barcelona were rumoured to be favourites to sign the 22-year-old, but after they cooled their interest, it leaves the Premier League champions in the drivers seat.

Chelsea Bids

According to reports, The Blues made an initial bid of £55m for the Frenchman, but saw it turned down by the Italian outfit.

However, Roman Abramovich has given Jose Mourinho the green light to offer more for the Juve star, and it could see them offer as high as £72m.

If Chelsea can get a deal done, it would be their fifth signing of the summer, following Radamel Falcao, Baba Rahman, Asmir Begovic and Pedro to Stamford Bridge.
