Chris Hughton has showered praises on Eddie Howe insisting the Bournemouth manager stands tall among all the homegrown Premier League managers.
It has been a difficult few months for Howe as they have failed to replicate their early season form and have faced defeats in their last out of seven matches. The prospect of relegation is still very far but the Cherries need to grind out a victory to reshape their Premier League journey.
On the other side, Hughton defied the odds by keeping Brighton & Hove Albion in the top flight last term and has done a pretty commendable job this term guiding the team in the proper direction.
But despite Bournemouth’s recent struggles, Hughton believes Howe has been one of the most standout managers in the top flight. “There is no doubt the biggest clubs, particularly with finishing in the top four and playing in the Champions League year after year, have tended to look at a different type of manager.
“If I’m speaking about homegrown managers, I think Eddie is right up there with the very, very best.
“What you have to take into account is where the club have come from, the budget he has, and the size of the ground when you’re talking about a particular job somebody has done.
“For some of the best managers around and the jobs they have done with their respective teams, I would see Eddie very much in that bracket.”
