Manchester City have offered Kevin De Bruyne a £200,000-a-week deal, according to reports

Wolfsburg director Klaus Allofs admits the Belgian international has received an “astonishing” offer from the Premier League club.

Earlier this week, the two clubs reportedly agreed a fee of £54million for the 24-year-old, but other parts of the deal are still to be completed.

Should the former Chelsea player move to the Etihad before the close of the transfer window, it would take Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini’s summer spending to well over £150million.

Allfos added how much off an important player De Bruyne was for the Bundesliga club and how he would be sorely missed.

“It is a big blow if he is leaving Wolfsburg, it’s really a situation that nobody was thinking about when he started with us.” said Allfos.

Manchester United interest

City’s local rivals are also interested in signing De Bruyne and could be about to hijack City’s move for the Wolfsburg attacker, according to Sport1.

The German broadcaster claims Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is a big admirer of the former Chelsea player and could be prepared to make a big-money offer for the 24-year-old.

The Dutchman is keen to bring in some attacking reinforcements before the close of the transfer window – United lost out to Chelsea when trying to sign Spain international Pedro.

Southampton’s Sadio Mane is also another reported target for United, with the Red Devils believed to have had a bid rejected for the Senegal international.
