Liverpool have beaten Manchester United to the signing of promising defender Diego Lattie from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
The 16-year-old swapped Sky Blue for Red after City opted against offering him a new deal with the club.
Lattie is a lifelong supporter of the Reds and it was reported that he wanted the move to Anfield even if the Citizens did offer him a new contract.
The young right-back has penned a three-year deal with the Merseyside club, according to The Liverpool Echo.
The utility-player is a regular for England Under 17s and Liverpool have been monitoring ‘the next Cafu’ for a while.
Everton, Norwich City, Stoke City, Sunderland, Aston Villa as well as United were also scouting Lattie before Liverpool won the race to sign him.
