The 24 year old has stepped up his comeback during the off season.

Liverpool striker Danny Ings is on course to return for preseason having missed the previous two campaigns due to injury.

According to reports from Liverpool Echo, the England international gave himself a one week summer holidays to get himself in the best shape to make Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Ings has been sidelined since suffering ligament damage to his right knee in the EFL Cup tie against Tottenham at Anfield last October. He also missed most of the 2015/16 campaign after tearing the ACL in his left knee.

The England international has only made 11 appearances for Liverpool since his ÂŁ8 million move from Burnley two years ago.

There is no set time for his return to the main squad in July, but he’s ahead of schedule and should feature at some stage in the Reds’ pre-season programme.

Klopp is said to be very impressed by Ings’ attitude and commitment to his rehabilitation programme.
