Danny Ings: I’ve never given up believing in myself or my ability

Danny Ings has insisted he always has belief in himself despite having an injury marred stint with Liverpool.

Ings joined Southampton on the deadline day and his signing has been the most positive things for the Saints in this campaign which otherwise has been pretty disappointing.

After suffering two long term injuries during his stay at the Anfield the 26 year old merely appeared for the Reds featuring in just six starts in the Premier League.

But this season the forward has started impressing the onlookers as he has already three goals in his tally and is looking far sharper than ever. Ings’ firepower certainly provided Mark Hughes with a much-needed inspiration in their quest of moving forward in the top flight.

Ings said, “I wanted to come away from Liverpool and challenge myself because I’ve never given up believing in myself or my ability to score goals and do well for the team.

“It was just getting back onto that stage and trying to play week in, week out, which I’ve been lucky enough to do so far.

“I’ve started off well but hopefully it’s just the start, the fitter I get throughout the season the more confidence I get and still getting used to the boys here, hopefully we can all score a lot of goals together and be more successful than last year.”
