De Boer wants Premiership job.

Ajax manager Frank De Boer has revealed that Premiership sides Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur had previously contacted him to discuss their vacent managerial positions.

Tottenham contacted the Dutch stalwart after sacking Andre Villas Boas in December, but De Boer wasn’t keen on leaving the Amsterdam side mid season.

Ajax are now four points clear at the top of the Dutch Eredivise following last Friday’s 2-1 win at Gronigan.

But De Boer stated that a move to the Premiership would be his ‘Cup of Tea’.

Speaking to the BBC’s World service, he stated….

He said: ‘Yes, Tottenham called my manager [after Villas-Boas was sacked] and asked if it was a possibility. I said no, it is not the right moment – it is the middle of the league.

Referring to Liverpool as well, he added: ‘Those two clubs are club that I think in the future I could be a manager of. I think the history of the clubs and what you can do with the team is my cup of tea.

‘I’m not really thinking about it because I’m very happy here at Ajax. I’m not in a hurry to leave because everybody is still happy with me.

‘I step in my car with a big smile to go to the club. I don’t think I’m finished here but there will come a time when I don’t like it anymore. Then we have to go both ways and it will depend on my perspective.’

Former Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers defender De Boer signed a four-year contract with Ajax in the summer.

The 43 year old has been a success at the Amsterdam club, since taking over the reigns in 2010, leading his side to several domestic trophies.
