Debuchy out for two months

Reports have emerged that Debuchy will be out for up to two months after suffering an ankle injury during his side’s 2-2 draw with Man City.

French newspaper Le Parisien reported that the right-back damaged ligaments in his left ankle which will keep him out of action until November at the earliest, meaning he will miss important Champions League fixtures as well as London derbies against Spurs and Chelsea.

The news will come as a blow to the Gunners as it leaves Arsene Wenger with just five fully fit defenders for the upcoming games.

ÂŁ16m summer signing Calum Chambers will be expected to step up to the mark and replace the Frenchman, whilst Mathieu Flamini and Hector Bellerin can also fill in in the right-back slot.

Debuchy’s injury, meanwhile, will raise questions as to why Arsenal began their title challenge with such few available defenders and Wenger will be hoping he can organise his defence in time for their crucial Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
