PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has revealed that Di Maria desperately wanted to sign for PSG instead of Man United this summer.
The Argentina international completed a British record £59.7million move to United following weeks of speculation about the winger’s future at Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old had also been linked with a move to Ligue 1 outfit PSG in the summer, but Uefa’s Financial Fair Play sanctions, which were imposed on the club earlier this year, prevented the French side from splashing out on Di Maria.
Al-Khelaifi has now claimed that Di Maria heavily fancied a move to Paris over Manchester,
‘Di Maria wanted to come to Paris,’ he said.
‘Even without FFP, we wouldn’t have signed him.’
