Diego Simeone has warned Atletico Madrid of a severe backlash by Juventus in the return leg in Turin.
Juventus’ hopes of conquering the Champions League severely dashed as the Italian champions failed to show any kind of intent at the Wanda Metropolitano. Two goals from Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin in a span of five minutes has now set up a mouth-watering second leg which is scheduled for next month in Turin.
Juventus specifically brought in Cristiano Ronaldo to keep his Champions League success clock tickling but the Portuguese couldn’t make his mark when it needed the most.
The Italian champions were crashed out at the hands of Real Madrid last season and they could lose their place to another Madrid club this season.
Simeone said, “We know it will be difficult in Turin, I’m sure we will have to suffer a lot. I don’t see any other way to do it,
“These are my boys.
“There are lots of things you can win, but you remember these moments of a competitive team.
“We were a really strong team. We took the game to where we wanted it to be.
“We got comfortable as the minutes passed, created chances and finally got the goals that give us a win against a really, really strong opponent.”
