Dwight is very confident that Manchester United can pull a result against Chelsea

United face the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Monday night for a place in the last four of the FA Cup.

United travelled to west London for a quarter-final replay during their treble-winning season in 1999.

Yorke scored twice as they triumphed 2-0 that day and the former striker has backed history to repeat itself this time around.

“Absolutely, you can look at all the turning points in that treble-winning year and say this was one of the moments,” he told United’s official website, when quizzed on parallels between the two games.

“We know games against Chelsea are always going to be very competitive but we know United are on an unbeaten run at the moment and the confidence is high.

“Chelsea are top of the league right now and are also on a high, so the game will be close but I think United can have the slight advantage, even though I can’t see too much between these two teams at the moment.

“It’s a very important game for both clubs.

“We know if we can get past Chelsea in this round, we will have one foot in the door to the final again.

“I’m sure United are concentrating on finishing as high as possible in the league but will put that on hold for the moment. As defending champions, it would be amazing to win the FA Cup again.”
