Fellow German International Emre Can is reportedly trying to coax Gotze into a move to Liverpool this summer.
Gotze, who has unexpectedly seen himself fall down the pecking order at Bayern Munich, is expected to leave for pastures new this summer, and has been tipped to link up with his former manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Following a €37million move from Dortmund back in 2013, and scoring the winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup, the 23 year old German International has seen his appearances for the club dwindle, as he struggles to get a game under new manager Pep Guardiola- despite once being tipped as one of the most promising young players on the International stage.
Bayern legend Franz Beckenbauer has publicly suggested Gotze should move to Liverpool, as did Liverpool midfielder Roberto Firmino, who said only yesterday that Mario Gotze ‘would fit in well with us, and he will surely help us with his class.’
Following Firmino’s comments, team-mate Emre Can has urged his German international colleague to swap the Allianz for Anfield this summer. He stated to the press:‘At Bayern he is lacking a bit of confidence which is understandable. A move to Liverpool would be good for Mario,’ Can said.
‘Klopp has shown this season how much trust he puts in young players. German players are popular in the Premier League.
‘The fans would be very happy to see more German players in the Premier League.’
Liverpool will need players to join during the summer if they are to challenge for Europe, or even further, for their first ever Premier League title.
