Chelsea are keeping tabs on several stars as potential replacements for Diego Costa, including Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.
Manchester United have been linked with German international Muller for some time.
Costa has endured a difficult season so far at Stamford Bridge, highlighted by spats with manager Jose Mourinho.
The latest incident came at the weekend against Tottenham, when Costa hurled his bib in the direction of Mourinho when taking his seat on the bench.
It seems that Costa will not be punished for his petulant act, but he may be on his way out at the end of the season.
Muller is on the radar of both Premier League clubs, but he has been warned against moving to England by former Bayern superstar Lothar Matthaus.
Matthaus said: “He does not need Manchester United or Chelsea. Barcelona perhaps could use him, but I do not know whether he can deal with their game.
“My opinion is that he should definitely stay at Bayern for his lifetime.
“He started his professional career at Bayern and I think he should end his career here. He does not need any new challenge as he is always playing at the highest level every year at Bayern.”
Chelsea are also reportedly looking at Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, West Brom’s Saido Berahino, Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid, and Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixeira, who has claimed the Blues have already opened talks for him.
