Midfielder expected to sign new long-term contract before end of season
Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to reject advances from Manchester United in search of a new long-term contract at Chelsea.
The young English midfielder’s contract is set to expire next summer, but reports are suggesting that Chelsea are keen to tie the youngster down to a longer deal. The 19-year-old has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs after scoring his first senior goal for the Blues in their 2-0 win over Scunthorpe in the FA Cup on Sunday.
The report claims Loftus-Cheek has been promised the opportunity of regular first-team opportunities and that will see him snub interest from other Premier League suitors.
It is suggested that he could move on to a five-year deal with a weekly salary of around ÂŁ40,000.
Interim boss Guus Hiddink has insisted that he is prepared to give youngsters a chance to impress him.
