Jurgen Klopp looks set to replace Rodgers as Liverpool manager
Brendan Rodgers has released a statement expressing his disappointment following his dismissal as Liverpool boss.
Rodgers and Liverpool parted company following the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Merseyside rivals Everton and are already making progress on appointing his successor.
Jurgen Klopp is the favourite and according to BBC Sport, the club has already made an approach for the German.
Carlo Ancelotti is also a potential candidate and is currently unemployed following his sacking from Real Madrid last season.
Rodger’s statement
Liverpool made the decision to end Rodger’s three-year tenure at the club by phone and this is his reaction.
“I am of course incredibly disappointed to be leaving Liverpool Football Club.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to manage one of the game’s great clubs for the last three years.
