Pascal Gross says there is more to come from him

Pascal Gross opens up on his experiences of playing against Man United

Brighton’s German midfielder Pascal Gross was one of the revelations of the Premier League last season but the 27-year-old has spent a lot of time on the sidelines in what has been an injury-stricken season for him so far.

Gross was ruled out at the start of the season due to an ankle injury but the German has now made it back to the team, albeit in a different position.

He said, “It was the first injury I had and it has been quite a complicated one, but I am feeling better in each game and I was happy to come back and help the team get good results.
“I feel I can produce more in the second half of the season in this deeper role, as I can still create chances playing there, as I did in the last game [v Liverpool].
“I’m used to playing in this position from my time in Germany, as I didn’t really play in the
number ten position that much and was more of a number eight before I moved to Brighton.
“I can play in both position, and even if I don’t produce and we play better as a team and get results, that’s fine for me. Football is a team sport and I try to do my best.”
The German reflected on his experiences of playing against Man United, recalling the 1-0 victory in May last season as one of the highlights of his career so far.
“We performed very well in all of the games against Manchester United, even in the first game at Old Trafford when we lost 1-0.
“We played a really good game, had chances, but lost the game 1-0 with an unlucky deflected goal. The game where we secured our survival in the Premier League was a really special moment for me. It was a Friday night game and we got the win we needed to stay up.
“It was great to score the winner, and it was one of the biggest days of my career and a very special moment. Also at the start of this season, it was very special to play against Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world and to score against them and win the game again was brilliant.”
