Burnley confirm signing of Peter Crouch on loan

Burnley have added more strike power to their line-up by signing Peter Crouch from Stoke City on loan for the rest of this season.

Crouch has a wealth of experience playing in the Premier League. He has represented clubs of the stature of Liverpool, Tottenham and many others in England’s top-division league.

He started his first-team career at Queens Park Rangers and has scored 205 club goals in 729 appearances. The 38-year-old has also represented the England national team in 2006 and 2010 World Cup, and also in the 2008 Euros. He made 42 international appearances, scoring 22 goals.

Talking to Burnley’s official website, Crouch wants to score more goals and help the team to achieve something. He was quoted as saying: “I still want to achieve things. I want to get more games in the Premier League and I would love to add to the 100 Premier League goals.

“If I can add to that and get up the list that would be great as well, and hopefully that will all cumulate in Burnley moving forward.

“It’s a club that is stable in the Premier League now. We’ve got to make sure we stay there this year and build on that.

“For me it’s a great place to be and I’m really excited to get started.

“My game has probably changed a little bit. I’m not 25. But my attributes haven’t waned. I never really had blistering pace, so I haven’t lost that.

“I know I can impact games at this level. I scored goals last season in the Premier League and I know I will do the same again if given the opportunity this year.”

Burnley play Southampton at Turf Moor on Saturday, and we might see Crouch in action then.
