Hakim Ziyech set for permanent move to Galatasaray

Galatasaray is poised to secure a permanent deal for Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech, signaling the end of his stint at Stamford Bridge.

After a loan spell with the Turkish giants, where he demonstrated his prowess with eight goals and four assists in 21 appearances across various competitions, Ziyech’s move is now set in stone.

The Moroccan international arrived at Chelsea from Ajax in 2020 with high expectations, yet struggled to cement his spot in the starting lineup despite contributing to the club’s Champions League triumph.

However, his loan to Galatasaray revitalized his form, prompting the Super Lig side to activate the obligation to buy clause.

While Chelsea initially incurred a significant loss on the sale, having agreed to a mere ÂŁ4 million loan fee, the move allows the club to alleviate Ziyech’s substantial wage bill and potentially reinvest the funds in new recruits for the upcoming season.

Ziyech, who notched 14 goals in 107 appearances during his tenure with Chelsea, found himself on the outskirts of the squad under manager Graham Potter.

Prior to joining Galatasaray, the 31-year-old had sought a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain, which fell through due to administrative mishaps on Chelsea’s end.

Ziyech’s departure is part of a larger transition at Chelsea, with veteran defender Thiago Silva already confirming his exit and the futures of several other players, including Ian Maatsen, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja, and Conor Gallagher, uncertain.

While Galatasaray celebrates Ziyech’s impending permanent arrival, Chelsea continues its push for European qualification in the Premier League, currently chasing a spot with just two points separating them from sixth-placed Newcastle United.
