Coutinho deal agreed ‘in principle’

Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho has been tracked by Barcelona in recent weeks, and ESPN claims that a transfer has been agreed between the two clubs ‘in principle’.

The La Liga side have money to spend following the world-record deal that saw Neymar move to Paris St-Germain.

They are after a superstar signing to add to their roster, and they see the Reds playmaker as the ideal replacement for the Brazilian.

An ESPN report claimed that ‘Sources close to the Catalan club Barcelona have an agreement in principle to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool for a base fee of €90 million (£81.6m) with bonuses that could bring the deal to €120m (£108.8m).’

Barcelona have also sent a delegation party to Merseyside, in an attempt to help push the transfer through.

They had been linked with moves for likes of Paulo Dybala and Ousmane Dembele, but instead are intent on signing the Liverpool man.

Coutinho himself, despite reports claiming that he was ‘underperforming in training’, in an attempt to force a move to Spain. However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp insists Coutinho has shown a ‘fantastic’ attitude in training recently, and is fully focused on Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Watford this weekend.
