He has agreed new terms on Merseyside, but will spend the 2016/17 season in the Championship
Liverpool shot-stopper Danny Ward has put pen-to-paper on a new five-year deal at the club, but will spend the next campaign on loan at Championship side Huddersfield Town.
The Wales international impressed the Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp during a loan spell at Aberdeen last term, forcing the German to recall Ward and install him as Simon Mignolet’s understudy.
And the 23-year old has continued to impress Klopp, which is why he has signed a new long-term agreement at Anfield.
Progress
Despite signing his new deal, Ward understands that he needs to continue his progression before he can challenge Mignolet and new signing Lorius Karius for the number one spot.
He has joined Huddersfield on a season-long loan deal and will work with Klopp’s former Borussia Dortmund assistant David Wagner, who is currently the Terriers’ head coach.
Liverpool travel to Yorkshire on Wednesday 20 July to face Huddersfield in a pre-season friendly at the John Smith’s Stadium.
