Manchester United have joined bitter rivals Liverpool in the race for Schalke star Leroy Sane.
German youngster Sane has burst onto the Bundesliga scene in the last 12 months, with four goals and three assists this season.
This sparkling form has seen Sane make his debut for the German national side, in the friendly with France last Friday.
Liverpool are admirers of Sane, 19, and were thought to be leading the chase for his signature.
But United have reportedly sent German scout Peter Braun to watch the young talent, according to The Sun
The attacking midfielder is thought to cost around £12m.
He only made his Schalke debut in April 2014 against Stuttgart.
He comes from a sporting family: his mother is a former German rhythmic gymnast champion, while his father is a former Senegal international.
