Reports in Italy claim Manchester United are preparing a £40m move for Juventus forward Alvaro Morata.

Morata is seemingly on his way out of Turin this summer, despite recently signing a new contract until 2020.

Real Madrid may be keen to activate a £23m release clause in the contract for their former player, although the La Liga side could sell him straight away if he does sign for them, to make a quick profit.

According to Tuttosport, the Red Devils are considering a deal worth around £40m for Morata’s services next year.

The Spain international has made 45 appearances for Juve this season, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists in the process.

Morata’s potential arrival at United could spell the end for Memphis Depay, who recently asked the club for assurances surrounding his future.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be keen on Morata, and Giuseppe Marotta has spoken about Morata’s future.

He told Mediaset Premium: “Keeping Morata at the club is an important objective for us but what happens at the Champions League final may have much to do with his future. We’ll do all we can to fulfil his wishes to stay in Turin where he feels he is at a club that is perfect for his career development.

Morata’s future doesn’t solely depend on Juventus despite our desire for him to remain here but the outcome of the conversations with Real Madrid will dictate his future.”
