Christian Pulisic has expressed his hopes to play for the US in the Olympics – an event which will clash with Chelsea’s pre-season and start of new season.
“The Olympics are something I think about and want to play,” Pulisic told Zoom’s meeting with reporters. “Obviously I have no power over what is going to happen.
The best for me at that time and the best for the team at that time, obviously I cannot say. But the Olympics are what I want to play.”
“If we were in a perfect world, I would like nothing more than to see my best group compete in the Olympics, that would be amazing,” Berhalter said as quoted by Antara from ESPN.
It is no doubt Pulisic is a big player for the national team and the USMNT coach Berhalter was happy to welcome him back during the international break.
“I think this will be a great opportunity for him to get together with his friends and get to see the group,” Berhalter told reporters.
“I remember when I played for the national team coming back and joining up with the team and seeing all your buddies again and then getting on the field and being able to compete with them, that was the best part of it.
“So I’m sure he’s excited about it and it will be great to have him in camp and great to have him on the field.”
