Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to move in for Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij this summer
Spurs are reportedly ready to offer the Dutch center-back a €6.5 million per year deal in order to get him to go to North London during the summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old is having a solid season at San Siro, where he has continued to give a good account of himself on defence. De Vrij has scored one goal in 29 appearances for the Italian club this season across all competitions.
In Serie A, the Dutch talent deserves a lot of respect for averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, and 2.0 clearances per 90 minutes. He has also been effective while distributing the ball from the back, completing 92.1 percent of his attempted passes in the top division of the league.
When the opposition is on the front foot, the Dutch center-back is quick to recognise the danger and generally puts his foot through the ball. He’s also a terrific distributor of the ball, which makes him a fantastic match for Tottenham’s style of play.
De Vrij will bring a lot of skill to Tottenham’s midfield and has what it takes to be a regular starter in Antonio Conte’s first team. He might be an upgrade over Eric Dier, who has failed to maintain consistency at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.
