The Italian champions were trying to force their way into the summer soap opera.

Juventus reportedly had a very ambitious offer rejected for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.

Shocking links between Paris Saint-Germain‘s Neymar and Juventus appeared in July when Mundo Deportivo claimed the Brazilian forward had sounded out the Bianconeri as a possible next destination.

As per the Catalan publication, the Bianconeri’s Champions League credentials and ‘rebirth’ with the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo, Matthijs de Ligt, Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey was enough to prove tempting for the 27-year-old. Rai Sport even went that far to the sensational line that Neymar’s father were to meet Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici in Turin later that month.

However, neither Barcelona, neither Real Madrid nor Juventus, nor any other club reportedly interested in the services of the Brazilian, managed to get a deal over the line before the deadline. Now, that the summer transfer windows is official closed, and with that the Neymar transfer summer saga is over, new reports have emerged suggesting what could have been.

According to BBC Sport‘s football expert Guillem Balague, Juventus tabled in a bid offering Paulo Dybala and €100 million to Paris Saint-Germain for the want-away star Neymar. Not being able to satisfy the French champions’ asking price of €300 million, the Bianconeri tried to using Dybala to tempt a deal.

The Argentina forward was heavily linked with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but possible moves to both clubs broke down over personal terms on the Premier League transfer deadline day.

Juventus, however, eventually saw their proposal dismissed by the French 1 side. Both players involved in the bid are now set to continue their campaigns in Serie A and Ligue 1 respectively, staying put at least until January when the transfer window reopens.
