AC Milan have expressed interest in signing Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga on loan.

Tanganga, who has appeared in 15 games across all competitions this season, is thought to be concerned about his playing time once Eric Dier and Christian Romero return from injury.

Tanganga last appeared in the Premier League on Boxing Day, in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace, and he was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw against Southampton on December 28 and the narrow victory over Watford on New Year’s Day.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte expressed astonishment that Premier League games were being postponed owing to the quantity of injured players at teams.

The 22-year-old played the entire 90 minutes in both legs of Tottenham’s EFL Cup loss to Chelsea earlier this month, as well as their 3-1 FA Cup third-round success over League One Morecambe.

Milan is presently second in Serie A after a 2-1 loss at home to Spezia on Monday, two points behind city rivals Inter, who have played one more game.

Meanwhile, Tottenham, Arsenal and Leeds are among a number of clubs in England and abroad who have an interest in Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence.
